Noar Hill and Martin Down
5th May I visited Noar Hill in the morning after hearing Duke of Burgundys were on the wing. I had to wait until just 10 when they started to fly. All in all I saw 9, Here are a couple of pictures. Also there were 10 Orange Tip, 1 Holly Blue, 1 Peacock, 3 Red Admiral, 1 Brimstone and 1 Comma.
Had my first Turtle Dove of the year here flying around near the farm.
In the afternoon I visited Martin Down south section and Kitts Wood hoping to see Grizzled Skipper and Green Hairstreak. Brimstones were by far the commonest butterfly along with 5 Holly Blue, 9 Speckled Wood, 5 Orange Tip amongst others. I did however find 2 Grizzled Skippers and 1 Green Hairstreak. Also 2 Painted Ladys rapidly flew past.
